26 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Hailing from Penang – the only finalist team with female contestant in the challenge, edged out more than 1,400 Malaysians across three states to win the AXA AFFIN Health Is Might AXN BiG Challenge and walked away as grand prize winner of RM15,000.
With droves of onlookers cheering them on, the non identical twin-sibling team, Tang Khai Shing and Tang Khai Sheng with a befitting team name, Twincredible outmatched four other finalist teams - Sai Lang (Kuala Lumpur), Moxiedude (Kuala Lumpur), The MC (Kuala Lumpur) and Salomon USJ (Johor Bahru). Despite having to match the strength and endurance of other full male teams, the duo found the challenges exhilarating and when asked how it was pairing up as a brother-sister team, they commented, “It was like going back to the past where we were always competing against each other. It was about encouraging each other to outmatch ourselves in terms of physical and academic performance, except now we are doing it as a team. The victory came as a surprise to us as this was our first attempt in such competition, but it also proved that we are impeccable as a team.”
1st runner-up, the Salomon team of Heidelee Mohammad and Goh Choon Aun, both active athletes, said “We look forward to more adventurous events and we are really happy for what we’ve achieved so far. We will definitely join the next race by AXN again”.
While 2nd runner-up, team Sai Lang, did not expect to be in the top three but believe their tenacity and effort helped to pull them through. Just like their team name suggested, Sai Lang means; We’ll go all out for it – we set our goals and give our best shot, commented Khairul Hafiz and Azriaizat Azis.
After weeks of intense competition that spanned across three states – Johor Bahru, Penang and Kuala Lumpur, the grand finale of AXA AFFIN Health is Might AXN BiG Challenge took place at One Utama Shopping Centre yesterday. A total of RM29,000 in cash were given away over the course of the challenge – the 1st prize of RM15,000; 2nd prize of RM8,000; 3rd prize of RM4,000; 4th and 5th prize of RM1,000 each. The event was a partnership between AXA AFFIN and AXN which made a bigger and bolder comeback for all Malaysians. A first of its kind, the challenge is developed with a health twist where contestants are not only challenged on their fitness and physical strength but also on nutritional health knowledge and mental wellbeing.
